Time Management:
Time Management Workshop - Save Time by Creating a Proper Workspace

Your time management and productivity can be greatly influenced by the space you are working in. If you are spending long hours at your office or cubicle, it is important to make your work place a pleasant place. There are people who have a strictly utilitarian view of their working area. Others on the other hand like to dress up their space a bit.

There are a few aspects of your working space to be considered: are you more productive if the walls have a different, softer color than the usual white of offices? If yes, you can spend a few hours painting, hanging wallpaper or swatches of fabric. You may want to decorate the walls of your office with pictures and photographs.

A rug or a carpet will create a very nice, cozy feel. The standard fluorescent lights can be greatly improved with a small desk lamp or even a lamp on your credenza behind you. You can think about upgrading your office furniture, and who knows, maybe you can have a couch in your office for a siesta or creative brainstorming.

Creating a proper workstation is crucial to your time management and productivity. Today most desks are designed to accommodate PCs, but there are older desks that were designed before the age of mass-produced PCs. These are generally a few inches too high for comfortable computer use.

If you have a table like these and you spend a fair amount of time - about 50 percent - working on the computer, you may have problems with your back, shoulders and neck. A poorly set desk can damage your health, so be careful with that.

You spend most of your time sitting: you can avoid fatigue, injury and other health problems a good, ergonomically sound chair could be a good investment. You should be looking for a chair with adjustable height, tilt and back rest for your lower back. It should have a rotating seat and at least five wheels for increased mobility.

It is better to keep your desk clean: this is not about decorations. You can use the walls and the floor for all kinds of environmental influences. The placement of different items is also very important: if you like daydreaming, don't put that photo about your last trip to Alaska on your desk unless you want to sabotage your time management. You can put it in a place where you can contemplate it in a moment of relaxation. This way you will always remember why are you working so hard.
