Time Management:
Time Management Training Tips Top 5

1. Write a to-do list

People who write down what they want to achieve are many more times likely to succeed. So when you write what you would like to do each day this will enable you to keep focused on what you plan to do. It is often too easy to flit from one task to another and find that you neglect some things that you should have done. Your to-do list can be a vertical list or in the form of a mind-map. The latter will more easily enable you to make connections between related tasks.

2. Prioritise your tasks

When you have a list of what you want to get done during the day look through your list and decide which of those things must be done without fail that day and which things would be nice to do but could delay until a later time. Remember not all tasks are equal so the order of your to-do list may not be the same as the order of priority.

3. Stop doing what doesn't have to be done.

When you step back and think about your daily routine you may find you are doing some things because you've always done them. You can save time by letting go of unnecessary tasks. Start to question why you are doing certain things and if the answer is 'because that's the way it's always been done,' then discover what might happen if it wasn't done at all.

4. Stop wasting time

What could you do which is something useful instead of watching television or chatting on the phone? Although some things may initially seem to be time wasters you may find you can justify them by realizing that you need to take some time for relaxation and nurturing your body, mind and spirit too.

5. Delegate more effectively

Asking for help is a vital part of having more time for yourself and getting other people to do some of those tasks you are doing yourself at the moment, those tasks which have to be done by somebody but not necessarily by you. To delegate more effectively you have to be very clear about exactly what you want to other person to do, you have to teach them how to do it, watch how they perform and then let them get on with it but having regular checks, especially initially, that they are doing what you want them to do.
