Time Management:
Time Management Skills to Make the Most of Your Time at Home

Do you find yourself seemingly performing the same routines within your home over and over?

The reason many of us perform the same routines such as chores much too often is because we do not practice good time management skills by managing our "spaces" effectively.

What does space management have to do with time management? When we move from one space in the house to another many of us tend to bring baggage in the form of a sweatshirt, piece of paper, odd toy and numerous other things. This seemingly unconscious behavior at times is due in part to a lowered awareness of our "spaces," in other words we don't pay attention to what we are doing where we are doing it. It's a common time management problem that can be quickly remedied and in no time you will find yourself doing less mundane chores at home and having more free time.

Try these simple steps.

1. Ask yourself before leaving a space within your home where are you going?

2. Take a quick glance at the room you are in. Does anything there belong in the next "space" you are intending to go to?

3. Did you bring something into say the kitchen that does not belong there? Look around. It only takes a glance.

4. Ask yourself before leaving a space what you can do in 1 minute that will make that space better.

5. Assign spots in rooms where you will be going to place everything that you brought with you. This step makes step 3 a breeze.

You may think the aforementioned steps are ridiculously simple. They are. Take your time. Make these simple questions habitual and in no time you will save much time. These simple time management skills are like magic and soon you will find others remarking on how little time you spend doing "chores."
