Do you manage your time effectively, or does your time manage you?
There are only 24 hours in a day, and like me I know that you think that that is still not enough.
I used to have serious trouble managing my time, I couldn't hit a deadline if my life depended on it. Thank goodness that's all behind me now.
I started a path of self development and began to take charge of my time.
I found lots of techniques that were helpful, and I would like to share 3 powerful techniques with you right now.
But first let me ask you this:
Do you think you could get more accomplished if there were 26 or 28, or even 30 hours in a day?
The sad answer is that you might think that you would, but in reality you probably wouldn't.
You see there are distractions everywhere, (I've just had 2 calls to my mobile phone while writing this article.) and you need to prepare for those distractions in advance.
I will save that for another article.
Now my 3 tips are as follows:
1. PLAN YOUR TO DO LIST
By having a to do list you are miles in front of most of the population, however there are lots of people who have to do lists.
I have found that an awful lot of people get up in the morning, then plan their to do list, this is self defeating behavior.
You should plan your to do list in the early evening, this way you will not have to spend the night worrying about remembering what to do in the morning, and you will get a good nights sleep because you know that you have prepared in advance for the forthcoming day.
You can wake up. and begin your day by taking action. Your list will tell you what needs to be done, and you can get busy doing it rather than trying to remember what it is your meant to be doing.
2. FOCUS ON THE TASK AT HAND
Focus on the task at hand.
If you attempt to do 3 things at once then you are splitting your focus and allocating each separate thing 33 1/3 of your focus.
How do you expect to get excellent results when you are only allocating 1/3 of your resources to it?
3. TAKE ACTION
"Do NOT put of till tomorrow, that which can be completed today"
Procrastination is one of the biggest causes of your time managing you, rather than you managing your time.
Stop putting things off.
If putting things of was working for you, you wouldn't be reading this article right now would you?
The more things that you put off today, the more things you will have to do tomorrow. You are creating a false economy of your time by putting things off.
Get your action taking muscles working, and get taking action.
WARNING!
Utilizing these tips will free up more personal time for you. Time that you can spend with loved ones doing all the things that you couldn't do before you learned to manage your time.
