Your time is important. As such you should learn to make as much as possible out of each and every day. However, there are many things each one of us does that eats away at our productivity. There are three simple things you can do right now to help clear away some of that clutter.
It's no surprise that television is perhaps one of the biggest time wasters in modern life. It's a simple one to eliminate, though. First, stop watching shows you don't care about. If you find yourself watching just for the sake of having background noise, turn it off.
That doesn't mean you have to cut out TV altogether, though. Make date with your favorite shows. Or, better yet, record your key programs, then watch them when you've completed other tasks. This not only frees up productive hours, but it also allows you to skip commercials, which can siphon off as much as a quarter of every hour.
Another way to save time is to not waste time doing nothing. Almost all of us find ourselves waiting for hours on end every week. It's usually easy to predict these situations ahead of time, and have a plan B in place to fill that time with something worth while.
For example, rather than simply waiting or flipping through useless magazines, you could have a little work on-hand to finish while you wait. Alternately, you could read that book you've been meaning to finish, or that article you bookmarked.
With the advent of modern media, it's become easier than ever to get information while doing other things. Case in point, rather than just listening to the radio in your car, why not bring along a podcast or audiobook? In fact, you could even replace that paperback you've been meaning to read with its audiobook equivalent.
While you may think doing such a thing might be dangerous, it's no more dangerous than listening to the radio. And it's much safer than talking on the phone while you drive. It keeps your hands free and allows you to keep your eyes focused on the road.
Each of us has our own time crunches to deal with each day, but these tips should help you make the most of the time you have.
