Getting things done in a productive manner is not only an important part of running your business but it's important to make sure you have time to do the other things you enjoy in your life. If you've got a large task list of things you need to do for the day, consider using some of the following tips to get more done, and have more time left for yourself.
1. Prioritize your work. It's often easier said than done, but my favorite strategy is to get the list of daily tasks that I need to perform and put a number from 1-3 next to each one. 1 is "URGENT", 2 is "Important", and 3 is "Can be done later". This way of organizing my tasks means I have an idea of what I absolutely must get done, what can be delegated and what can be put off (or not done at all!). The trick is to do the things in the "URGENT" category NOW!
2. Break up your day into physical movements. It's often found that those who organize themselves best get the most done because they do not multitask. They break up their day into motions that are similar. ie, they do all their phone calls together at the same time of day. The handle all the paperwork all together at the same time of day, and they run all their errands all at the same time of the day. By doing this they gain the power of leverage. The dont have to change direction, or get their mind into a different space in order to do a different task. The just do them until they're done, or for a specified period of time and then move onto the next job.
(the above 2 strategies worked together are so powerful that you'll most likely end up getting more done in half a day than you did in 2 days before that!)
3. Increase your intensity. This seems simple, but it's very effective. Anthony Robbins states that if you want massive results, you need to take massive action. And he is a pure example of this principle at work. Get your self busy taking action doing the things you need to get done, and you'll get more results. Try to do things with 110% more effort than you did in the past. You'll discover, after a while, that you're new level of intensity becomes natural as you get more and more done faster than those around you.
