Simple living requires control of one's time to eventually reap its benefits. Often when we say that we don't have time it is usually the simple thing of not making great use of time. For every busy parent who does not have enough me - time there are busy parents running thriving companies and still finding the space for me-time.
For every teen that has not had time to do their homework there are teens that have part time work or hobbies who manage to get theirs done. There are also teens who are practically full time careers for their parents who manage to get their homework done.
Everyday there are always time stealers that quietly take up our precious time and give us back dust. Wouldn't you rather take up that same time and at the end of today have a clear list of things that you know that you have done to move yourself forward to a goal or dream, or helped your health or helped another person?
The simple way to achieve this is by planning and monitoring. The planning bit is always easy. The continuous monitoring bit is to make sure that you are getting things done and is often the bit that is not carried out. The CONTINUOUS word is the most important. This is an ongoing thing. You must continuing to check off at the end of the day or week or whenever is good for you that you are keeping up with your aims.
An example of a time stealer:
Outside appointments
Whenever you make an appointment outside of the home you are already locking into a time stealer. You are basically at the mercy of whomever you have booked your appointment with. I have been to appointments where I have been made to wait over an hour or more. Once in a while this is excusable, but repeatedly this is not.
If this were a friend doing this I would implement measures straight away to stop this. It is disrespectful. You could ask them to meet at you at your place so that they then have to wait for you. Or be prepared to leave them after waiting a maximum of five minutes.
For various other appointments like the doctors, they are usually behind time and there is not much that can be done about it. So control the bit you CAN control. Take a book, take some work, make some notes, or use the wait to relax to some music in your headphones.
