Improve Your Time Management By Scheduling

Time management is important to every profession, but especially in sales.  It's hard enough to sell to people all day, but it's even harder when you are dealing with a limited amount time.  All of the best sales people that I have known seem to be masters of time management.  I think we could all use a little extra time in our days.

Time management is important for several reasons.  Without being able to manage what you do throughout the day you will find yourself fighting an uphill battle and constantly playing a game of catch-up.  Unfortunately 90% of American workers struggle with this concept and are constantly left with a feeling of being behind.

It's amazing how someone who seems to have a handle on how to delegate their time can get so much accomplished without seemingly putting in a lot of effort.  Those people always seem to be done with tasks quicker.  They can take on more work than all others.  Ultimately they can put in less time than others who struggle with time management.

Isn't that the point of complaining about time management?  We all want to be able to get more things done in less time.  And thus, enjoy more things we choose to do outside of our work lives.

So the question is: How do you master the art of time management?  Well, there are many things that can help.  I think on of the easiest way to figure out how to get more done in a day is to make a schedule.

Schedules are great because they force you to be organized with your time.  You can set aside periods of time to get specific things accomplished.  This forces you focus on the task at hand and not allow you to get overwhelmed with the big picture.  The fact is everyone has a lot to do in a day, but some are just better at it than others.  Getting a schedule together is a great way to start.

Another great thing about a schedule is that you can decide how to make it.  If you need more time to sell, just schedule it.  If you need more time for administrative work you can schedule that as well.  You'd be surprised at just how much you can get done when you are sticking to a schedule.
